Early Georgian Hob Grates
"The Larbet" is a reproduction of a Cast Iron Hob Grate in the Early Georgian Style c 1800. It is designed to fit in a brick or stone enclosure and be corbelled back to the flue. The flat plates or hobs are for cooking and heating. The ashes fall into the space below the grate. The X frame incorporating the grate and the serpentine bars are typical of the Georgian style.
